Efficient Power Allocation for Profits Maximization in Digital Channelized SATCOM Systems

For digital channelized SATCOM systems, power allocation is an effective way to improve the transponder's power utility and spectrum efficiency simultaneously under the influence of nonlinear high power amplifiers. With link supportability guaranteed, a lot of work has been done to minimize the total transponder output power or to maximize the total transponder capacity, but none has considered the different service demands of different links. In this paper, considering the practical situation of satellite service, an optimization problem of profits maximization is raised. Based on the combination of binary search method and golden section method, we propose a multilayer search (MS) algorithm. Further, numerical simulation shows that comparing to traditional solutions, the maximal profits obtained by the proposed solution can be increased by 6% at least. Besides, analyses also indicate that in a special situation where the profits maximization problem becomes the capacity maximization problem, the MS algorithm has a higher convergence rate and a better convergence result than the traditional algorithms.
