Attitude determination and control system (ADCS) is one of the essential subsystems of a satellite that requires thorough testing before launch. Hardware-In-the-Loop simulation is a well-known approach to test the ADCS subsystem. A novel structure for HIL simulation is addressed in this paper, with the main aim of introducing a cost effective and easy to implement simulator for CubeSats. To achieve this aim, a motorised gimbal testbed is presented as the alternative for to air bearing low friction testbeds which are widely used in CubeSat HIL simulators. HIL simulation results for EIRSAT-1, a 2U CubeSat being designed and built at University College Dublin, are presented in this paper.
