Composites of conducting polymers and carbon nanomaterials has attracted great attention both in fundamental and applied research. They exhibits high conductivity, large specific surface area, and excellent mechanical properties. These systems can be fabricated either by simple mixing of carbon material and conducting polymer or by in-situ oxidative polymerization of monomer in the presence of carbon nanostructures. Polypyrrole has been deposited on the SWCNTs or MWCNTs by chemical or electrochemical oxidation of monomer in solution containing carbon nanotubes. In the case of chemical polymerization, Fe(III) ions or are used as an oxidation agents. For the formation of MWCNT@polyPY composite, oxidized MWCNTs were used for pyrrole oxidation and polymerization process initiation.
