Development of highly active catalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is an urgent research to realize the energy consumption transformation from fossil flue to clean and renewable hydrogen energy and alleviate the energy crisis and. Electrochemical water splitting offers an ideal approach for hydrogen production with ultrahigh purity, which need a cost-effective electrocatalyst to drive the HER. Until now, Pt-group metals have been proved to be the best electrocatalysts for HER due to the extraordinary low overpotential near the thermodynamic potential of HER, but their widespread commercial application on a large scale is hampered by the prohibitive cost and scarcity.
