In the chemical industry, oxygen-containing chemicals are used in the production of partialoxidation products, including many in the pharmaceutical industry. The vapor spaces in oxidation reactors can contain high concentrations of oxygen gas, in combination with flammable vapors. Thus, it is important to determine the explosibility properties of organiccompound vapors in atmospheres containing high oxygen concentrations.
