The authors have developed the ECBMR simulator (ECOMERS-UT). Comparison study with other simulators confirmed that this simulator is valid. Sensitivity analyses showed that absolute permeability, matrix swelling and components of injection gas are important parameters. Economic assessment of ECBMR project in China showed that ECBMR can be applied for coal seams of over 2md. Also, the best injection-timing and required CO_2 credit depends on permeability. In 2md case, CO_2 credit of about US$45/t-CO_2 made ECBMR more cost competitive than primary recovery. Moreover, because required CO_2 credit price in China is about US$60/t-CO_2 lower than in Japan, ECBMR project in China can be promising Kyoto's Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project.
