Upgrading plants for the production of cement clinker generally involves modifications as to the grinding capacities that are available at a works. The requirements relating to these modifications apply both to cement raw mill and coal mills as well as to cement mills. The relevant modification measures are determined taking into account the grindability, process and engineering data and depend foremost on the degree of the increase in the output rate. The procedure is described in the following with an MPS 4150 cement raw mill operating at Gorazdze Cement S.A., Poland, serving as an example. The procedure, however, applies also to coal and cement mills.
