摘要

A submicrometer-thick optical polarizer using gold nanoclusters has been demonstrated for the first time. The polarizer was fabricated by stretching a periodic multilayer consisting of gold island films and glass films. A 0.2 mum-thick polarizer layer with large polarization dependent losses has been realized (>=20 dB and 1 dB for the polarizations parallel and perpendicular to the stretching direction, respectively, at the wavelength of 1000 nm).
