摘要

The requirement for fossil fuel surpasses its available supply resulting in its inadequacy. Rapidly depleting stocks of fossil fuels, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions control and environmental problems are main issues which drive a country to search for a cost-effective renewable alternative energy source from solar, wind, hydro and bio-energy. Recently, many countries are considering biofuels as a sustainable and environmentally friendly source of energy which magnifies the energy security of a country and reduces reliance on foreign countries for fossil fuels. This study examined the FFA (free fatty acid) of Livistona jenkinsiana Griff(Toko-Patta) to choose the appropriate method of transesterification for biodiesel production and produced biodiesel from it by using the method based on the amount of FFA value. With this investigation, it was shown that the production of high-quality biodiesel from Livistona jenkinsiana Griff oil is a viable option.
