Moral Harassment at Work (MHW) has turned out into threatening and/or violence to the dignity of workers in Brazil. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of some sciences, such as, Ergonomics, Psychology, Law as well as the authorities who see this problem as a way to violate the rights of workers. The moral damage is the main legal consequence of MHW. The practice of humiliation, embarrassment, mockery, isolation and psychological torture in the workplace has affected people, weakened the employment contract, and attacked the physical and mental health, causing damages to workers, loss in productivity and high costs to society. This research aims to demonstrate the occurrence of MHW in Brazil as a factor that deteriorates the work relationships, and generates occupational disease in a cross section of workers in Brazil, in a wide variety of occupations from 2006 to 2009. Method: a descriptive-exploiting study, with data survey from the Labor Courts jurisprudence consult, based on the decomposition of variables comprising the phenomenon of this study. The researched population was made up of Brazilian workers who have suffered Moral Harassment in their working relationships within the Brazilian territory. The data were processed by descriptive statistics and the result shows that the worker is subjected to psychosocial risks, suffering and psychological illness at work, besides representing costs to the State, to the company, and to himself/herself. The conclusion refers to the invisible suffering and the consequences with social welfare benefits and profitability decrease of organizations.
