Synthesis of Novel Polyphenol Dendrimers and Its Application in Leather Tanning

Dendrimers, terminated with phenol hydroxyl group, were synthesis with cyanuric chloride and phloroglucinol by divergent procedure and their structure were characterized. The experimental results of leather applications show that two polyphenol dendrimers used in leather practical experiment would enhance the thermal denaturation temperature of collagen fiber and have well synergistic effect through the combination of dendritic polyphenol tannin and aluminum tannin, which can increase the denaturation temperature of collagen fiber from 49°C to above 95°C. So this polyphenol dendrimers is a kind of synthetic tannin with novel structure.
