Red and fast - Vertical-emitting semiconductor laser for POF application

摘要

Vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSEL) are the key device for data communication via polymer optical fibers (POF). For efficient data transmission the emission wavelength has to be properly adjusted to the attenuation minimum of the POF. To hold up the performance parameters of these AlGaInP-lasers in this wavelength region around 650 nm effective heat removal plays a major role.
