A diagnosis of the fundamental ground of the Old Bridge in Mostar

摘要

The paper gives a result illustration of the wide spectre of research methods used for the foundations of the Old Bridge in Mostar. The comparison of the results of the various research methods resulted in data on geological and geotechnical properties of the soil. In the area of the right bank the erosion has taken away the filling of the eroded space, so the stability of the bridge is jeopardised by the erosion. The basic characteristic of the rock is a high level of heterogeneousness and bank asymmetry in regards to the lithological contents and geotechnical properties.
