Since the introduction of low pressure methanol synthesis the improvement of process designs and the development of new generations of catalysts have led to more economic production of one of the most important basic chemicals. Because of specific technical demands, one single type of catalyst is not necessarily applicable to maximize performance under all synthesis conditions.
