A number of metal oxides, for example Li/MgO, Na_2CO-3/CaO, SrO/La_2O_3, etc., have been reported as catalysts for oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) since the pioneer work by Keller and Bhasin. Further, the engineering approaches by the use of a fluidized-bed reactor, or a redox reactor have been investigated in order to enhance the yields of ethane and ethylene.
