A study to theoretically clarify the combustible limits and the necessary minimum heat input for a reciprocating superadiabatic combustion system was conducted. To this end, attention was focused on the formation of the temperature profiles in the porous body, which is dominated by the development of convective and radiative heat losses during one half cycle and the related heat storage and release.
