Many human orthopedic conditions are managed with rehabilitation and an orthotic device. The modern techniques and materials used in human orthotics and prosthetics (H-OP) are making their way into veterinary medicine driven by client demand. An orthosis is any medical device attached to the body to support, align, position, prevent, or correct deformity; assist weak muscles; or improve function. These devices are a natural adjunct to rehabilitation with the ultimate goal of improved mobility, functional independence, and pain management.
