As part of a research project at the Institute of Mobile Machines and Commercial Vehicles of the Technische Universitat Braunschweig, new driver assistance systems are developed together with AGCO/Fendt as associate partner and funded by a BLE/Rentenbank program. In past projects different sensor systems were used on mobile robots. Especially Time-of-Flight-cameras showed excellent results in [1]. For this reason the new driver assistance systems are based on a 3D Time-of-Flight camera. Above all in this project, the object recognition and pose (position and orientation) estimation represent elementary challenges.
