Digital Framework for Surveillance Control of COVID- 19 in India

The COVID-19 pandemic was unprecedented in terms of persistence, scale and geographical spread. In India, it was declared a National Disaster, and the Prime Minister’s Office was directly involved in all the aspects of monitoring, relief, surveillance and control. The Home Ministry having under its umbrella the National Disaster Management Authority, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology through National Informatics Centre (NIC) drove the management and the administrative push. The digital intervention driven by NIC developed and managed the solutions, which became the backbone of Digital Surveillance and Control in India. In this paper, an effort has been made to present the Digital Framework for surveillance and control of the COVID-19 situation in India, and how this is being used extensively by Central, State and local governments.
