Membrane bioreactor(MBR)still has severe issue of permeation flux decline caused by membrane fouling as same as other water treatments using membrane.Membrane fouling is affected by various membrane properties,such as surface hydrophilicity,pure water permeability,pore size,surface porosity and surface roughness,etc.There have so far been many challenges to modify a membrane by blending with amphiphilic polymer such as Pluronic F127 and Tween-80 in order to fabricate the membrane having both hydrophilic and antifouling properties1,2).In these studies,not only giving hydrophilic and antifouling property to the membrane surface but also having roll as pore former of amphiphilic polymer were reported.These studies suggest that amphiphilic polymer is one of the key materials in the development of low fouling membrane for MBR.
