The large deviation of the strength of boron carbide and the low fracture toughness limit the application of boron carbide(B4C)on large and complicated parts.According to Griffith crack theory,the size and distribution of defects affect the strength of the material.It has been confirmed in previous research that a good bonding structure can be formed between aluminum metal and boron carbide,and there is an obvious infiltration phenomenon.Moreover,the strength of the joint is greater than the strength of the substrate.Shown in Fig1.For this reason,this study intends to repair the cracks on the surface of the material by using permeation.
