Learning is an activity that requires comfort to foster students' interest. Interest is the feeling of being happy, interested, willingness to be involved in activities so it shows a positive change. Interest related to attitudes toward science, learning atmosphere, learning difficulty, and learning commitment. This study aimed to determine the effect of guided inquiry model combined with edutainment to increase students' learning interest. This study used a quasi-experimental design and involved VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 18 Malang while the sample was class VIIIG (experimental class) which was taught with guided inquiry combined with edutainment, VIIIH (positive control class) which was taught with guided inquiry and VIIIE (negative control class) which was taught with conventional learning model. The instrument used was a validated learning interest questionnaire. Students' learning interest questionnaire contains 50 statements done by students before and after the learning process. The results of the test with ANCOVA showed that F-value is 5.919 with P-value is (0.004) (0.05) which means that there is a significant difference between the experimental and control classes toward students' learning interest. Based on the result, the guided inquiry learning model combined with edutainment affects increasing student learning interest compared to guided inquiry and conventional model.
