As CEO of the leader in business and analytics software, Bill McDermott has kept SAP on top in the face of global change in technology and the increasing amount of information collected. “This is the secret sauce: You can’t just have technology there,” McDermott told a standingroom- only audience at the opening session of the GPA Midstream Convention in San Antonio. “Everything we do has to help the world run better.” SAP leadership realized “that change had to happen.” The company was No. 1 in a $110 billion worldwide market, but the world was changing so they asked, “If we weren’t around, would anybody miss us?”
