Synthesis of benzoate esters with photoredox catalyst

Benzoate esters have gained attention due to their wide application in various importantmolecules such as flavor and pharmaceuticals.In the textbook synthesis,benzoate esters areprepared with Fischer-Speier esterification,which constructs the ester scaffolds from benzoicacid and alcohol under acidic conditions.Alternatively,alkylations or arylations of benzoicacids are other reliable strategies for the benzoate ester synthesis.The recent development oftransition metal-catalyzed reactions enables to synthesize various benzoate esters throughC(sp~2)-O bond formation.Although a variety of synthetic methods of benzoate esters havebeen reported,the development of more facile and practical methods remains an important task.
