Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) have a tunable pore size and are suitable forincorporating molecules of various sizes,such as various drugs and proteins,into the pores[1].Furthermore,it is promising as a carrier for drug delivery since it can impart a pluralityof functions,such as sustained release ability and targeting ability of a drug by surfacemodification.We synthesized MSN to carry a fluorescent molecule that specifically binds tomitochondria by covalent bonds for the purpose of having the targeting ability tomitochondria.The surface of MSN was modified with polyethylene glycol (PEG) toenhance the dispersibility of the particles.
