The design and construction of a multi-frequency electrical tomography data acquisition device is presented. This device allows for re-configuration of excitation waveforms. There are two main advantages of space-time waveform reconfiguration. First, the ability of generate excitation signals at the same frequency and amplitude but with a different energy level. Second, mixed-frequency waveform excitation allows to explore selective frequency response of the expected internal material distribution. Medical standards restricts the energy of the excitation signal and, as a consequence, a well controlled data acquisition procedure for electrical tomography is fundamental. The architecture design allows to incorporate frequency scanning capabilities on the device. The construction considers an FPGA reconfigurable processor for fine-grained control of the data acquisition process. This prototype is concealed to explore and select adequate excitation-sensing strategies for respiration monitoring.
