Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) causes a considerable economic impact to the US swine industry, due to reproduction losses and worsened growth performance.1; Fifty-five percent of the economic impact is on the growing phase,1 and thus there is the critical need to better understand how the virus spreads within infected populations of growing pigs under field conditions. The objectives of this study were 1) to identify different patterns of PRRSV detection overtime on vaccinated growing pigs at high pig dense area, and 2) to compare the effect of the different detection dynamics on the growing pig mortality.
