Global cloud-resolving models (GCRMs), such asNICAM, enables more realistic simulations ofaerosol transport as well as vertical air velocities, a keyparameter in determining the activation of clouddroplets by aerosols. However, another crucialparameter, the size distribution of aerosols, is yet to beresolved in any of the GCRMs to date. To simulate theevolutions of aerosol size distributions and theircontributions to the aerosol-radiation and aerosol-cloudinteractions, we develop a size-resolving scheme as anextension from the original NICAM-SPRINTARS.
