Using selective dispersion of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) with in acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) matrix, we have demonstrated the formation of a novel nanocomposite with superior microstructure and improved electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding characteristic. rGO was synthesized by modified hummer's method and characterized by raman spectroscopy. ABS/rGO nanocomposite with different wt% were prepared in the form of pellets using dry tumble mixing followed by hot compression technique. A low percolation threshold at 2 wt% of rGO has been observed which can be ascribed to selective dispersion of rGO in ABS. The percolation behaviour of prepared nanocomposite series was studied and DC electrical conductivity wasmodelled theoretically using power law. Maximum shielding effectiveness ~27 dB was obtained at 40 wt% of rGO loading.
