We investigate the use of low-cost Digital Video Broadcast-Terrestrial (DVB-T) receivers as general purpose soft define radio (SDR) for passive bistatic radar applications. Two DVB-T receivers are synchronized by a common clock to perform coherent measurements. With an only 2 MHz bandwidth, we demonstrated the detection of short-range and far-range moving targets, including airplanes, ships, and vehicles, using ISDB-T digital TV signal broadcast in Sendai, Japan.
