Recently, Freire and coworkers reported that the helix sense of a poly(phenylacetylene) bearing optically active α-methoxyphenylacetic acid residues as the pendants (poly-1) could be tuned in the solution by the metal cations.1 In this study, we investigated the chiral recognition ability of poly-1 toward various racemates as a chiral stationary phase (CSP) for high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and the effect of metal cations on it.
