Cyanido-bridged metal assemblies drew much attention as functional molecule-based magnets. In particular, chiral molecule-based magnets are interesting compounds due to cross-linking effects between chirality and long range magnetic ordering. Recently, our group reported chiral magnets which were synthesized from achiral building blocks of octacyanidoniobate(IV) ion, divalent 3d transition metal ions, and 4-bromopyridine.1,2 Herein, we present two chiral magnets, [Mn(4-iodopyridine)4]2[Nb(CN)8]·0.5H2O (MnNb) and [Co(4-bromopyridine)4]2[Nb(CN)8]·2H2O (CoNb).
