Glycosidase-catalyzed transglycosylation has become an attractive methodology in the field of carbohydrate synthesis. In order to develop an efficient transglycosylation reaction, it is necessary to utilize an appropriate activated sugar compound as a glycosyl donor. Cyclic sugar derivatives are known to be potential glycosyl donors for glycosylation reaction, because the torsional strain induced by the condensed ring structure lowers the activation barrier.
