Trimethylenemethane (TMM) is the smallest non-Kekule diradical with triplet ground state, and has played crucial roles in theoretical chemistry, organic synthesis, and magnetic materials. TMM was first detected by Dowd in 1966 as a persistent species that was stable only at cryogenic temperature.1
