We have shown that syn/anti addition of the electrophile-nucleophile in electrophilic addition is under the control of the earliness (or lateness) of the transition states (TS).1 When the TS is early, i.e., more reactant-like, delocalization between π_(C=C) and Φ~*_(E+) is essential so that the electrophile E~+ and the nucleophile Nu:- in an electrophilic agent add in an anti fashion.
