Rotaxane-cross-linked polymer (RCP) having rotaxane structure at the cross-link points exhibits outstanding toughness compared with covalently cross-linked polymer (CCP)1,2). The uniform stress dispersion owing to the mobility of the polymer chains at the cross-link points is key to enhance the toughness. In this work, to further improve the mechanical property and to endow RCPs with functionality, vinyl polymer-based RCPs having functional groups such as hydrogen bonding, electroconductive, and photoresponsive groups were synthesized and their properties were studied.
