Inter- and intramolecular interaction between acenes is an important factor to determine electronic and photophysical properties of acene-based materials. Some V-shaped acene dimers have been reported and exhibited unique properties such as rarely strong fluorescence from excimers in the solid state1 and singlet fission which improves solar energy conversion of solar cells.2 Recently, we have investigated reactivity of silylated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the presence of ruthenium catalyst. Annulation of diarylsilylnaphthalenes and diarylsilylanthracenes with internal alkynes through C-H cleavage at peri-position.3 Herein, we designed a synthetic procedure for disilabicyclooctadienyl-bridged anthracene dimers by using a ruthenium catalyst and investigated optical properties of them.
