Application of chiral salen complexes including azo group for dye sensitized solar cell

Dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC) is expected as a next-generation energy device that may easily exceed conventional silicon type ones. To date, Ru complexes are mainly used for DSSC; however, Ru is very rare and expensive.1 We have been studying on salen type cheap metal complexes having adsorbing carboxy groups to exhibit high absorption for long wavelength light.2
