Recent years, pioneered by Beller et al., nitrogen-doped carbon supported nanoparticle (NP) catalysts are utilized in organic synthesis for their unique catalytic activity. Though advantageous in their ability to activate earth abundant metals, N- doped carbon supported NP catalysts are still suffering from some challenges; either uncontrollable aggregation was observed after high-temperature pyrolysis, or inflexibility was suffered due to rigid template of the precursor.
