Development of heterogeneous chiral catalysts for asymmetric C?C bond forming reactions is among the most important subjects in modern chemistry. Chiral diene ligands, pioneered by Hayashi and Carreira, are one of the best classes of ligands that are utilized in many catalytic asymmetric reactions, including asymmetric arylation of electron deficient olefins with Rh and kinetic resolution of allylic carbonates with Ir.
