Platinum (Pt) based heterometallic catalysts attached on carbon supports are promising candidates for excellent oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) of polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs), and the improvement of catalytic activity at cathode is one of the critical issues for PEFCs. We succeeded in preparing small Pt nanoparticles with narrow size distribution (1.5 ± 0.5 nm) by the co-polymerization of a Pt tetranuclear complex with pyrrole ligands and pyrrole monomers on multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT). In this study, we report the preparation Pt nanoparticle catalysts with lanthanide, which exhibited remarkable ORR performances.
