This work has demonstrated the design of a System-on-Chip (SoC) device that can interface to three sensor modalities namely: temperature, acceleration and acoustic for geriatric care monitoring. The SoC has been implemented using TSMC 0.18um 1P6M technology and has been optimized for low power dissipation for portable implementations. The front-ends consist of the VTH extractor temperature sensor and programmable gain circuit for sensitivity adjustment, low noise and high performance chopped current-mode instrumentation amplifier and active bandpass filters based on MOS pseudoresistors for interfacing with a MEMS based microphone and accelerometer sensor, and a spike or peak detector circuit for the fall detector. The designed SoC may be used as a front-end for IOT applications as a wearable technology.
