This paper deals with analysis of Torsional Interaction (TI) phenomenon in a wind energy conversion system based on doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) with series compensation network. Mathematical modelling of induction machine, two mass shaft, transmission line, rotor-side-converter (RSC) and grid-side-converter (GSC) controllers is developed using dynamic equations. The simulation is carried out on a 3.73kW wind farm and the effect on turbine-generator shaft oscillations due to addition of capacitance on distribution side is studied. This capacitance may cause resonance with inductance effect, therefore oscillations are likely to occur. In addition, the rotor-side-converter and the grid-side-converter controllers are explored to damp out the oscillations.
