Angle measurement of monopulse is widely used in the angle tracing technique for high precision tracking radar system. This paper analyzes some facts related with precision of angle measurements in monopulse radar, including offset angle of sub-beams, squint angle between target and centerline of main beam, receiver output noise, and target amplitude fluctuation. A new method for angle measurement of monopulse, which is based on digital beam forming technology, is investigated in the paper to achieve angle measurement of monopulse radar. The results show that, receiver output noise and squint angle between target and centerline of main beam, which are two important factors affecting precision of angle measurements in monopulse radar.
