East Java Province is geographically located in eastern of Java island between 111°0' to 114°4' longitude and 7° 12' to 8°48' Latitude, with a total area of 48,039.14 Km2. East Java province is a perfect area for farming, one of the important factors that affect the level of soil fertility in East Java is many volcanoes that are still active such as Mt. Bromo with ranging cycle of eruption from one to five years. We implement two techniques for monitoring Mt. Bromo. First, Small Baseline Subset InSAR technique based on an appropriate combination of differential interferograms produced by data pairs characterized by a small orbital for increasing the observation temporal sampling rate. Second, TimeFun is an extension of SBAS to allow incorporating various functions such as seasonal oscillations, polynomials, step functions as generally it estimates DEM errors as well and allows missing observation. The proposed analysis is based on 22 SAR data acquired by the ALOS/PALSAR sensors during the 2007-2011 time interval. Time-series monitoring of surface deformation to infer volume changes, geometries and locations of sources of deformation involved in the future eruption. While the results from these SBAS and TimeFun algorithm are fair consistent with each other, TimeFun analysis has demonstrated unique advantages in monitoring active volcano. Further study, allow us to use for human risk assessment.
