The ability to utilize and link diverse sources of off-board and on-board information will play a crucial role in the design of the next generation of connected powertrain energy management functions and ADAS. This will lead to considerable development challenges, especially with respect to reproducible testing and validation. In this article, a seamless office-to-rig-to-road development methodology for such systems will be presented and exemplified through the design of a novel Traffic Light Assistant for electric vehicles.
