In the present study we have prepared innovative polymer nanocomposite films by blending the HPMC with colloidal silver nanoparticles in silk sericin solution (SS-AgNPs). The presence of silver nanoparticle in the prepared film samples were confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-Visible spectroscopy (UV-vis), and as an application part, mechanical and antibacterial properties were studied. The XRD studies reveals the increment in crystallite size and decrement in lattice strain of HPMC/SS-AgNPs nanocomposites films. UV-Visible study confirms the presence of AgNPs in the prepared nanocomposite films. The mechanical and antibacterial properties of HPMC/SS-AgNPs nanocomposites films were found to be increased with increase in the SS-AgNP's concentrations.
