摘要

Heavy metal oxide contained glasses are very promising candidates in shielding and photonic materials. In this paper, we studied the effect of y-ray irradiation on optical properties of Er_2O3-Bi_2O_3-TeO_2 glasses through UV-Visible spectrophotometer. After y-ray exposure, the optical band gap decreases and Urbach energy increases, which is due to creation of defects within the glass network as a result increases the number of non-bridging oxygens.
