The effect of pre-oxidation on the composition of the products of cracking of vacuum gas oil is shown. Oxidation promotes the reactions of destruction of high-molecular sulfur-containing components of oils proceeding with the formation of gas and additional quantities of distillate fractions. The effect of the addition of a nanoscale molybdenum powder on the material and fractional composition of the products of cracking of oxidized vacuum gas oil is established. The presence of molybdenum results in a retardation of destruction reactions of oxidized vacuum gas oil components. The mechanisms of transformation of sulfur compounds in the course of a combined thermo-oxidative treatment are shown by the example of homologues of thiophene, benzo- and dibenzothiophene. Pre-oxidation allows involving high-molecular sulfur components (e.g. resins) into the cracking. Their destruction results in the formation of additional amounts of benzo- and dibesothiophenes.
