COMPARISON OF VISUAL AND AUTOMATED INTERPRETATION OF URINARY DIPSTICKS WITH GLUCOSErCREATININE RATIO AND GLUCOSE CONCENTRATION

The accuracy of Bayer Multistix with visual reading for determination of the glucose concentration in canine urine is only 59% (Behrend et al, J Vet Int Med, 2009). The correlation between visual and automated assessment has not been investigated. Furthermore, urine glucose:creatinine ratio (UGCR) may be a useful method in quantifying glucosuria similar to urine proteinxreatinine ratio but has not been assessed. The purpose of this study was to compare automated readings, visual readings and UGCR for quantification of glucosuria in canine urine.
